National Technical University of Athens (NTUA)
NTUA ………
Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI)
FMI conducts research in the fields of meteorology, climate, marine sciences, air quality, space physics and earth observation, and contributes actively to national and international cooperation in its field. Involved in TwinCity is the Atmospheric Dispersion research unit, which studies and observes the physical and chemical properties of aerosol particles and trace gases effecting to climate and air quality. The main research themes of the unit include also the development of air quality
models and model validation; modelling of urban air quality and exposure, regional and long-range transport of pollutants, and integrating meteorological and dispersion models. In TwinCity, FMI will be directly involved in WP3, providing weather and climate data and models and facilitating the downscaling of climate model information, using results from computational fluid dynamics simulations on its Cray XC40 super-computer.
Resilience Guard Gmbh (RG)
RG is a consultancy company offering professional services related to Business Continuity Management, Resilience Management, Crisis Management, Risk Management & Business Assurance across Europe. RG having acquired many years of expertise in the area of Resiliency for both organizations as well as municipalities and governments, will bring all the practical knowledge and application of resiliency approaches and offer advising and in-house training of NTUA personnel to support TwinCity activities. Within WP2, RG will actively support information gathering activities on business practices, and will also coordinate and implement the filtering all the information gathered against a backdrop of prioritization scale/hierarchical classification deriving from aspects such as geographic data, vulnerability and risk maps to showcase critical dependencies. In WP5, RG will assist in assessing the impact to businesses, supply chains and critical services to enable capturing the overall community resilience.
RED Risk Engineering + Development S.p.A. (RED)
RED is a limited liability company involved in natural and human-induced hazards, risk assessment and catastrophe (CAT) risk modeling. It has engaged in technical consultancy, research and feasibility studies internationally, in the fields of earthquake engineering, flood hazard, hurricane hazard, drought and climate. RED has a long experience in producing customized exposure datasets by leveraging existing and collecting new data, employing remote sensing techniques and integrating open source information. RED is currently the Risk Management Specialist of CCRIF and it has been supporting the development of risk mitigation strategies. In TwinCity, RED will advise and train the NTUA team in the definition of the exposure (assets-at-risk) for the pilot study (WP2), offer assistance with
modeling the seismic and flood hazards (WP3), help develop a taxonomy for the classification of assets (WP4), and provide its experience in CAT risk modelling to test and verify the TwinCity platform vis-a-vis historical data (WP7). Moreover, RED’s knowledge of the risk modelling sector and its connections with brokers, insurance and reinsurance companies will be exploited to promote the platform in the CAT risk sector.
